About Lauren Martin
Welcome! I'm Lauren Martin, an educator, curriculum writer, children's author, and literacy advocate passionate about helping children become lifelong learners who see reading, writing, and research not as schoolwork, but as tools to achieve their dreams and make a positive impact on the world.
Throughout my career teaching English, History, Art, and students with reading disabilities, I witnessed how many children came to view reading as a frustrating task rather than a source of joy, curiosity, and empowerment. Too often, their experience consisted of struggling through disconnected texts and answering questions that felt meaningless. Those experiences inspired me to create something different.
My books and curriculum combine academic rigor with creativity, wonder, and real-world relevance. Whether teaching literacy, social studies, science, social-emotional learning, or the arts, my goal is to help children develop critical thinking skills, confidence, creativity, and a genuine love of learning. Every resource is designed to make challenging concepts accessible, engaging, and meaningful while saving parents and teachers valuable time.
As a parent, I have also learned that children need explicit instruction and practice in understanding and managing emotions. Through our own family's experiences, I recognized how important it is for children to develop healthy tools for navigating feelings such as anxiety, anger, sadness, jealousy, disappointment, and insecurity. This inspired my social-emotional learning book series and curriculum, which help children build self-awareness, self-regulation, resilience, and self-confidence while learning that all emotions can be understood and managed in healthy ways.
In addition to creating books and curriculum, I am committed to expanding access to high-quality educational resources for all families. While living in New York City, I founded and led a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that donated books and literacy resources to more than 10,000 children attending free daycare centers in subsidized housing communities. Today, that mission continues through free printables, educational resources, read-aloud videos, phonics lessons, and learning activities for parents, teachers and kids on my website and YouTube channel @LaurenMartinBooks.
I’ve made it easy for anyone, including you, to raise money to donate books to children in need. You can be an advocate for literacy. You can make bedtime stories a reality for families in need. I believe books have the power to change lives. They allow us to explore new ideas, understand different perspectives, travel through history, imagine new possibilities, and discover our own strengths and passions. A single book can spark curiosity, build confidence, create empathy, and inspire a child to dream bigger than they ever thought possible.
My mission is simple: to help every child discover the joy, wonder, confidence, and opportunity that reading can unlock.
