About the Author
From my experience teaching English, History and Art to students with reading disabilities, I know how important it is for children to read daily from birth and to be taught to think critically and express their emotions in productive ways. I witnessed first-hand how many children’s sole experience with reading was struggling to comprehend boring, irrelevant texts before struggling to answer multiple choice questions.
As a curriculum writer and educator, my goal is to create lifelong learners who know that reading, research and writing are joyful tools to imagine and manifest their wildest dreams. My children's books and curriculum teach challenging academic content in a way that reignites childhood wonder, hope and enthusiasm.
As a parent, I have realized that children (and adults) need to be explicitly taught how to regulate and express feelings of anger, anxiety, sadness, jealousy, disappointment and insecurity. As I struggled to model these skills to my children, we began to learn and practice self-regulation skills together. My emotion books and curriculum have helped us and can help your children change their relationship with their emotions and empower them to choose self-regulation tools. All of my social emotional learning books and curriculum are meant to give children the tools they need to live a life of ease, passion, self-acceptance and joy.
While I create books and curriculum that help children academically and social-emotionally, I also strive to connect all families to free, high quality educational resources. This is why my website shares free books and education tools for parents, teachers and kids, along with free toolkits for you to help give books to children in need. You can be an advocate for literacy. You can make bedtime stories a reality for families in need. Don’t wait to make a change. Access free resources for parents, teachers and kids today.
My passion is to reconnect children of all ages to the awesome power of reading. A book can allow us to travel the world, investigate the past and imagine the future. We can be immersed in a culture or habitat full of people and animals we suddenly know and understand. A book can unfold life’s mysteries, open our eyes to a new perspective, reveal our hidden passions, reassure us that we are perfect as we are, and show us how to make our wildest dreams come true. A book can help us discover something amazing every day about ourselves and our world.
